Book 1 The TeamBook I introduces us to the team members, as well as their home country, a tiny desert nation called Ylelon. An outsider named Cynthia is introduced to the Winds through serendipity, and it is through her eyes that we see how the team works as they track the monsters responsible for a bizarre series of murders. Author's note: This is the newer version, with re-written opening chapters to make the story flow better and deliver details more fluidly. Even if you're a veteran Lonely Winds fan, check it out! |

Book II The Crown of ThornsYlelon is invaded by an ancient foe that even the warriors of the team and George fear and respect. The Lonely Winds may be capable and experienced monster killers, but how can they hope to defeat an opponent that can outsmart even George? |

Book IV Ancient and Terrible PowersWhat seems to be an ordinary hunt for a new breed of hostile supernatural creature turns up a greater mystery: the monsters are not random invaders, but were brought to Ylelon for purposes unknown. The Lonely Winds must engage in a hit and run series of assaults on the bizarre strongholds of their unnamed enemy, all while beings of terrible power watch them from the shadows and wait for…something… |

Book V: Visits From Old FriendsIn an effort to allay the recent fears and tensions within the team, George surprises the Lonely Winds with a luxury cruise and a reunion with a retired team member. The trip takes a horrific turn when a vicious monster stows away aboard the ship and the Lonely Winds find themselves unarmed, unprepared and secluded at sea with a killer. |

Book VI: The BeastIt seems to be business as usual for the Lonely Winds as they seek the killer responsible for a series of murders among Ylelon’s homeless. But the creature they seek turns out to be unlike anything they have ever faced, and they learn that there are forces at work in the city that are even worse than the monsters they are used to facing. |

Book VII: The Moonless NightA routine patrol turns up the victims of an ancient and powerful order of vampires that have established a power base in Ylelon. The Lonely Winds mount an assault and attempt to drive them out, but the ensuing battle may be more than they can handle, and Cynthia will learn a shocking secret about the gentle George. Author's note: I consider this to be one of my best works. I hope you'll agree! |

Book VIII: Power and MadnessA powerful wizard approaches the Lonely Winds and offers them information in exchange for a “favor.” The Winds seem to be getting a good deal until they learn who the favor involves angering and that even the shocking events of their recent lives are nothing compared to what they must face in the future. |

Book IX: The PitJust when the Lonely Winds thought their lives couldn’t get any weirder… |

Book X: The UniversityA hobby of G.R.’s turns up a valuable tip that sends the team to one of the world’s oldest educational institutions. Book XI: The AbsolutionYlelon’s proud maritime tradition takes a dark turn as the crew of a cargo ship are ruthlessly murdered. The Lonely Winds do what they do best, discovering that the only thing worse than the nightmares they face is what’s pulling their strings… |

Book XII: The TruthA rare archaeological discovery turns up what may be the most dangerous object in the world. The Winds are caught in a race against time and a multi-sided war in an effort to safeguard the relic, which will show once and for all that often, nothing is more dangerous than the truth. Author's note: This is right after "Ember and Magma" and "The Moonless Night" for stories I consider to be my best work. Check it out! |

Book XIII: P.O.V.A group of persons who share a common history find themselves huddled together in the underbelly of Ylelon. No safe place for them, they can only rely on each other. But even a family bound by mutual needs and goals may not stand forever against the forces that hunt the streets in Ylelon's nights. |

Book XIV: This Oppressed StateWhen George Manor and the Lonely Winds discover that a recently deceased member of Ylelon's Senate may have been aiding and abetting the forces they risk their lives to combat, their investigation into the private life of the Senator turns up more than a mere skeleton in the closet. And they aren't the only ones to open the door... |
The Year Between
There passes a span of one year between Book XII - The Truth and Book XIII - P.O.V. Although this time saw little of the Lonely Winds in direct conflict with the most potent forces in Ylelon, the days were by no means peaceful. The world was traversed, conflict encroached from unforeseen angles, romances were kindled and crushed. Where these events imposed themselves on the members of the Lonely Winds are at last documented for your enjoyment. As such, I humbly offer you these glimpses into The Year Between.
Sins of the Father
In the darkness of Ylelon's streets, a new figure appears to carry out his father's final wish. Potent and inscrutable, this person begins a war on the streets of Ylelon and no one is safe, not even those it would choose to protect...
Chapter II - Wolves in the House
Desert Autumn
Nails returns to the Pit to hone his combat skills. But both his greatest victory and his most devastating loss occur outside of the Arena.
Other Stories By B.I. Flight!
The Lonely Winds are not the only troupe of monster hunters to ever operate in Ylelon. Far from it, in fact: over the centuries since the land was settled, countless individuals have taken it upon themselves to serve the public interest by seeking out and destroying dangerous elements of the supernatural that had permeated society. Their means and motives varied greatly, but were usually backed by a desire to do good.
Unfortunately, the lens of history rarely reveals motive, but more often reminds us that the road to hell often is paved with good intentions…
Author's note: I consider this to be the best thing I have ever written, bar none. If you only ever read one story by B. I. Flight, make it "Ember and Magma!"
In Ylelon’s days of gas lamps and cobblestone streets, a desperate Yd tribe approaches an outcast warrior to battle a troupe of outsiders that have been molesting their village. The warrior may be up to the task, but is his help worth the price he asks?
As a documentary reveals the official history of Ylelon's special forces, the Harbor Storms, we are also given detailed insights into the true story of the failed invasion that earned the Storms their name, their nation's freedom, and their place in history.
Here's my official recommended reading order for everything that's up so far:
Books I-XII. Pretty straightforward so far.
Ember and Magma. This is a prequel story and while it stands on its own somewhat, I recommend readers get through at least Book II and ideally Book IV to fully understand the setting, characters, and concepts in this story.
The Sins of the Father chapters I-VI. Read Ember and Magma first. Also, this is a "Year Between" story, so to fully understand where the team is at this point you should really get through the first twelve novellas first. In fact, the Year Between is really a set of "side" stories that can stand apart from the main storyline: you could easily read all of the primary novellas and come back to this stuff without losing too much.
Desert Autumn. Same as above. This story makes references to a lot of other stuff in the mythos including Sins of the Father and the Terek Domar story arc, so you want to be pretty grounded in the mythos for this one. Also, Nails fans are going to be hunting me down for this one so I have to go into hiding.
Books XIII and XIV. Picking up after the Year Between. The big story arc is back with a vengeance. Let the bodies hit the floor. Mwahahahahahaha.
The Misaqht and A Storm in a Harbor can both be read pretty much at any time, but they again require a good grounding in the mythos, so the first novel (Books I-IV) is highly recommended. I'm actually fairly proud of The Misaqht and I think the commercial in Storm in a Harbor is pretty funny.
With any luck Book XV will be coming in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and tell your friends, link, Twitter, whatever!
