As previously said, the update is not yet available, at least not at the time of writing. And it won’t happen for another few hours, or until July 10th at 4:00 a.m. PT. After then, it will be available as a download on all platforms, but it is currently unknown how big the file size of this download will be.

HEAD TO HEAD ONLINE
- Pitching changes with pinpoint accuracy:
- The criteria for ‘Good’ and ‘Perfect’ pitches in the Release time and direction are now more flexible. NOTE: This modification may also be observed in offline situations when utilizing competitive gaming style options.
- From the developers: We knew precision pitching would be a tough concept for some players to learn, and we knew we’d have to make adjustments once we received the comments and the statistics. Now that we have that information, we agree with the criticism that things are a little too simple in a competitive environment right now. This new modification will make achieving the timing window for “Good” and “Perfect” a little more difficult.
- Adjustments to contact hitting:
- When utilized by power hitters, the Contact Swing is now less successful. When using Contact Swing, the higher the power, the larger the loss in mph. For high-power hitters, this modification should now provide a more realistic tradeoff between each swing type.
- Contact swing was added to enable for “shortening” your swing and extending ABs with 2 strikes, or executing hit and runs at the cost of power, according to the developers. When we looked at the comments from the community this year, we found that players with very high power characteristics weren’t being affected enough by Contact Swing. Contact Swing’s effects should sacrifice exit velocity in exchange for a smaller timing window, simpler check swings, and fewer fouled off pitches.
- R2 (history of pitches):
- The gesture part of Pinpoint Pitching for the defensive player will no longer be affected if batters press R2 to see the pitch history. R2 will no longer interrupt the defensive user if it is pushed at the same time or after the pitch motion has begun. The pitch action will not begin if the batter pushes R2 before it has begun.
- From the developers: “We wanted R2 to be utilized in a manner that would allow the batter to “take a breath” and stop the pitcher from throwing too quickly” (and of course see the pitch repertoire and pitch history). In actual baseball, it might be likened to the hitter stepping out of the batter’s box, for example. As a result, we don’t want to completely eliminate the function, but we’ve seen people abuse it and cause problems for those that utilize precise pitching. We hope that this adjustment will help to relieve some of that pain in the future.
- Other modifications and improvements include:
- The pleasant quit acceptance flow now has a confirmation dialog.
- Following a second mound visit, users may no longer exit the bullpen screen.
- A freeze that may occur when a ground ball is hit to second and then tossed to first has been fixed.
- A freeze that might occur when the ball was hit to certain parts of the outfield has been fixed.
- A freeze that might occur on a very late bunt attempt has been fixed.
- After choosing a pitch, Darren O’Day no longer tips it.
- Fixed an issue where the planned starting pitcher could not be replaced in the lineup in Franchise and Exhibition games, even after choosing a new starting pitcher.
